While studying at Tokyo University of the Arts, I explored spiritual themes through traditional Japanese painting. In these works, butterflies served as symbols of the human soul, of spirits, and of faint, indistinct sounds. When butterflies took flight, I perceived them as drifting sounds—an image that intertwined my inner world with the visual language of painting. The butterflies also embody a powerful life force, born from the pain of my solitude in a silent world.
